There is without question NO drum section that I have heard, and as Yoda says Searching Have I Been - better than this riotious madness :

Its hard to break down this wonderful 14 plus minutes of mayhem:

0:00>3:00- Just drum set banging, nothing special, both drummers stiill on their sets. High energy from the start.

3:00 - Amazing timbale solo, also wierd marimba, bells, and shakers start to come in - both drummers playing at an amazing level. Sounds like many others start to join in.

4:46 - weird voices - tribal - forest sounds, cowbells and whistles and gongs - yelling and chanting - this is a new GD not seen in 76 or 77 - this drum solo is different.

7:24 - sounds like a Gamelan orchestra: amazing bongo and marimba - odd screaming and yelling - almost primal

9:45 - only voices... the drums have died away - we get this amazing chanting from the whole band...

11:08 - still crazy chanting and hooting - odd forest noises and steel drums - very tribal still

13:00 - a steel drum space until Jerry enters slowly...

The band would really start to flesh out the drums during this tour - here is a great start...

Eric F. Wybenga's excellent book "Dead To The Core" cited this show as a favourite (mainly for the Scarlet > Fire). I got the book down just now and saw this side panel on the same page, quoted verbatim:

"BETTER TRY WOLFSBANE ....
A common configuration for the tape of this show has the encore on side A of the first set, which, when read aloud from set shorthand yields the phrase "Music Never Stopped Werewolves". Which of course became a cautionary motto among me and my friends."
